The role

  • Fixed Term (12 months), Full time
  • $128,980 pa (plus 17% superannuation)

As a Dental Resident, you will be joining a supportive and collaborative environment of experienced dentists and academic staff who will provide mentorship and assist with developing your skills and competencies in clinical dentistry.

During academic sessions, residents will work in the Charles Sturt Dental and Oral Health clinics two to three days per week, providing routine dental work including independent examination, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment for patients. One to two days per week residents will supervise dental and/or oral health therapy students in their teaching and learning environments depending on the Clinic's requirements. During academic session breaks, residents will be required to see patients five days per week.

Residents will also have the opportunity of further study, including enrolment in a Bachelor of Science (Hons) or a Higher Degree by Research with one day a week assigned for this.

About you

  • A Bachelor of Dental Science or similar, AND full dental registration or eligibility to obtain registration as a dentist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to providing contemporary evidence-based patient care and ability to exercise clinical reasoning, independent judgement and problem solving.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively and sensitively with a wide range of individuals and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to developing the knowledge and skills necessary to supervise dental and/or oral health therapy students in their teaching and learning environments.
