The role

  • Full Time, Continuing
  • Level 4 - $73,230 to $79,494 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
  • Wagga Wagga

As the Technical Assistant within the Animal and Field team, you will be providing technical and laboratory support to the Faculty of Science and Health. Your duties will include, but are not limited to, preparing and breaking down of classes, maintaining and demonstrating the use of equipment and contributing to work health and safety tasks.

As part of the Technical team, you will also be required to assist with other technical responsibilities across all Schools in the Faculty.

This position would suit an individual with broad skills and experience in laboratory techniques, including animal anatomy, physiology and clinical skills. Experience in animal husbandry techniques would be highly regarded

As part of this recruitment, a pre-employment functional screening is required.

About you 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Experience in contributing to risk management systems, including risk assessments and safe work procedures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in Animal Care and Ethics legislation.
  • Awareness of emotional demands associated with routine handling of cadavers and assisting with animal euthanasia.
  • A relevant qualification in animal science or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through other combination of education, training and/or experience.
