  • Level 7 - $98,467 to $107,591 pa (plus 17% superannuation)

As the Coordinator, First Nations Entry and Transition Programs, you will work collaboratively with Faculties and other stakeholders to lead the design, delivery, implementation, evaluation and improvement of culturally appropriate direct entry and transition programs for First Nations students. The Coordinator will also develop and implement strategies to engage with First Nations applicants in wider university admissions programs such as Charles Sturt Advantage in collaboration with relevant teams. Programs aim to build aspiration for university study, direct entry, assist students transitioning into university, and guiding them as they transition from university into their future careers.

Your personal circumstances enable you to travel to multiple campuses across NSW, stay overnight where necessary, and to be rostered to work within the hours of 7am and 7pm according to student need.

You will be responsible for 

  • Developing, implementing and evaluating culturally appropriate preparation and direct entry programs for First Nations people, ensuring timely delivery of strengths-based services and efficient processes and systems.
  • Assisting the Director, First Nations Pathways to manage the funds, resources and activities associated with the program of work in ways that ensure that practices and processes are appropriate and compliant with relevant regulations, policies and strategies.
  • Assisting the Director, First Nations Pathways with the coordination of operational reporting including the capture and evaluation of relevant learner engagement metrics and student satisfaction.
  • Leading by example to inspire, empower and foster a culture of collaborative, innovation and continuous improvement to support the achievement of high-quality outcomes for students and staff, individually and collectively, and for Charles Sturt University.
  • Working collegially and professionally with all university staff in the effective provision of quality services for First Nations students.

About you

Essential criteria:

  • Identify as an Indigenous Australian; demonstrate a level of knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Australian cultures and societies appropriate to the position including lived experience and understanding of the issues affecting people in contemporary Australian society and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent writing, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in leading, motivating, engaging, and managing diverse stakeholders to produce positive program outcomes and collaborate effectively with other work teams.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate initiative, independently plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines and produce and report on high quality outcomes.
  • Strong technology skills and knowledge with demonstrated capacity to effectively utilise the online environment to support student development of skills.
  • Working with Children Check.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline with 4 or more years' subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management and or specialist expertise; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/ or experience.
