Located in culture-rich Bathurst, we are currently seeking qualified engineers with relevant industry experience to join our Engineering team to work as practicing Professional Engineers and to teach into our Engineering degree program. You will provide an industry perspective and apply current practice to teaching whilst having the opportunity to continue working as a professional engineer ‘in residence’ at the University.

The teaching responsibilities will involve contributing to the teaching team on project subjects, developing teaching material in your area of expertise and mentoring students. You will maintain links with industry to ensure the engineering curriculum is aligned with the reality of industry best practice.

CSU Engineering Consulting is a commercial arm of the department, offering a range of civil and structural design services as well as partnerships with research projects. You may work on projects, individually and as part of a team, for a range of clients doing general and specialist consulting in your field.

Part-time teaching only positions are also available to engineers wishing to continue in their current role part-time and split their time between their current job and the University. This offers a rewarding opportunity to give back to the engineering community, work with young people and other professionals, and gain new skills.

To be successful you will have:

  • An accredited engineering degree in civil, geotechnical, water or structural engineering, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the discipline gained through recent industry experience.
  • Experience in supervising cadet or graduate engineers or experience in mentoring programs.
  • Chartered/Registered Professional Engineer, or equivalent, or eligibility to become chartered, is desirable.
  • A desire to teach or work with young engineers in industry or academic setting.
